There's an app for that: Teacher given an iPad as music aid

Port Townsend High School band director Kim Clarke accepted an iPad, a special grant presented by Gina McMather representing the Alpha Upsilon Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) Society International of women educators.

Clarke said she plans to use the iPad both at Blue Heron School and Port Townsend High School to assist her in improving student musicianship and learning.

For example, Clarke would use tuning and metronome apps, play music samples for students, and have them record their work for practice and assessment. Teachers from the Port Townsend, Quilcene, Brinnon and Chimacum school districts were eligible to apply for the iPad award, which the local DKG chapter gave in lieu of a grant in aid this year.
