The Quilcene School Board has voted to extend to a job offer to Ron Moag to  take over as the school district’s interim superintendent.

Moag has accepted the position, current Quilcene Superintendent Frank Redmon said in an email.

The school board is expected to meet with Moag this week to negotiate an employment contract.

The hiring decision follows Redmon’s recent resignation announcement.

Redmon, who served five years as superintendent, announced in late April that he was stepping down at the end of the school year in June.

Moag has a career in education that spans nearly 30 years.

He started as a high school teacher, club advisor and coach, and moved into school administration seven years later.

According to the Quilcene district, Moag has worked as a high school assistant principal, principal, central office employee and most recently as a school superintendent for two school districts.

Moag earned a bachelor’s degree from Aquinas College in business administration and accounting, and holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Western Michigan University.

He is currently finishing a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Seattle University.

Moag and his wife, Sheri, live in Seattle. They have five adult children and three grandchildren.
