Salish Coast Elementary to add covered play structure

Posted

A new addition is coming soon to Salish Coast Elementary School’s campus in the form of a covered play structure.

“This has been approved and the total cost of the project should come in around $150,000 or more,” said Justin Gray, facilities director for the Port Townsend School District.

Construction on the structure is expected to begin during the week of Spring Break and should be finished and ready for students by the start of the next school year.

Sequim-based ACI Construction will build the metal structure, which will match the elementary school’s modern design.

“The covered play structure was part of the plan for the original building,” said Principal Lisa Condran of Salish Coast Elementary. “The purpose of the covered play structure is to provide an area of our blacktop where students can still play outside when the weather is inclement.”
