Genealogical society features talk on city directories

The Jefferson County Genealogical Society welcomes returning speaker Mary Roddy for a presentation titled “A Direct Link to the Past – City Directories.” The event is from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17 at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, Chimacum.

City directories can fill in information gaps about ancestors that occur between census years, and may lead to clues for follow-up research, according to a press release. Roddy demonstrates city directories’ address searches, alternate spellings, advertisements and how to mine historical images that might not be available elsewhere.

Roddy is a certified public accountant who earned a certificate from the Genealogy and Family History program at the University of Washington.

The public is welcome to attend.
