Brinnon School District students have new way to re-hydrate, thanks to a project organized through Jefferson Healthcare.
As part of a Participatory Grant through Jefferson Healthcare, Brinnon’s middle school students were asked to brainstorm ways to spend $5,000 to improve the lives of all students within the school. Students landed on the construction of a water bottle-filling station.
“Part of the problem is with our water system and our well here, we don’t have great water pressure,” Superintendent Patricia Beathard said at a recent school board meeting. “So it’s hard to have a sanitary water fountain.”
Weak water pressure, she explained, meant students might be inclined to put their mouths on the spigot while getting a drink. A water bottle-filling station, especially during the pandemic, will be a boon for the district’s students.
“It’s not a great time for water fountains, so we’ll be super glad to have that,” Beathard said.
