Olympic strung out a five-set win in varsity girls volleyball in a yo-yo style contest late last week against East Jefferson.
The Trojans and EJ went back and fourth in five, with Olympic winning the first set, 25-16, followed by a 25-18 outing by East Jefferson.
Olympic won the crucial third set, 25-23, with East Jefferson following with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set before the Trojans finished the night, 15-13, in the fifth.
Alyssa Vandenberg really stood out in the varsity game against Olympic, EJ Coach Emily Zenz.
“She played four of the sets and really was a great asset to the team, picking up many great digs and serves as well as three kills, three aces and many block assists,” Zenz said.
“Coach Kaci Zambor and I could not be more proud of the team as a whole and how hard they have been working this whole season,” she added.
“Alyssa had outstanding serving which led to a great comeback and win in the first set of the JV game — the only set Alyssa played for JV last night,” added Coach Kristina Jennings.
Macy Aumock had a kill and two blocks for East Jefferson.
Jessica Hawley contributed a kill, three aces, and three blocks.
Akira Anderson crushed with six kills and three aces.
Maya Wickens had a kill, while Sophie Patterson added four kills, two aces, and three blocks.
