UPDATE 11:42 p.m. Jan. 26
State Route 20 at Eaglemount reopened about 11:20 a.m. today following an early-mornimg accident which closed the highway between Discovery Bay and Port Townsend.
ORIGINAL STORY 10 a.m. Jan. 26
Two people were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center around 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 after what Washington State Patrol trooper Russ Winger called a serious three-car injury accident.
The wreck occurred around 4:56 a.m. on State Route 20, near Eaglemount about 2 miles miles east of Discovery Bay. Due to weather conditions, the two patients were transported by aid vehicle to Bremerton National Airport in Kitsap County for medical airlift to Harborview.
The highway has been blocked since 7 a.m. At 9:40 a.m., Winger said it could take another hour to hour and a half for the road to be cleared and reopened to traffic.
The two people who were airlifted – a man and a woman – were drivers involved in a head-on collision, Winger said. A third person driving a third vehicle was not seriously injured.
