The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to 284 calls for service between April 24 and May 1. Among them were 9 animal complaints, 3 burglaries, 6 incidents of domestic violence, 18 civil situations, 13 reports of littering, 3 incidents of driving under the influence, 28 follow-ups on previous cases, 9 incidents of suspicious circumstances, 3 cases involving theft and 85 traffic stops.

Some of the incidents deputies responded to include:

Mail theft in the Chimacum area was reported at 8:03 a.m., April 25. The suspect was described as a blond female driving a U-haul van.

At 6:18 a.m. on a rainy morning, April 28, JCSO received a report of a man in a brown, four-door car with no windshield. The man was driving very slowly near the Jefferson County Library, “looking around at things in a weird way.” The subject was described as dressed in all black clothing and wearing a ski mask with goggles. Deputies checked the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle or driver.

Deputies responded at about 6 p.m., April 28 to reports of shots being fired from a trawler traveling through the Port Townsend Portage Canal near Indian Island. It was later determined that the vessel was not firing shots, but shooting fireworks. The Coast Guard was notified.

A report of road rage and the brandishing of a weapon on Four Corners Road was taken at 8:32 a.m., April 29. The person reporting the incident said that as they were traveling on Four Corners Road, a red pickup truck was “tailgating and intimidating” them. When the victim pulled over to let the truck pass, a passenger in the truck displayed a black handgun. Deputies responded to the scene, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Occupants of an Irondale-area home had placed free items in their yard near a curb. Among the items were cans of paint. Deputies received a report on April 29 that people were taking the cans of paint and painting on the street.

At 9:44 a.m., April 29, a Port Hadlock resident reported that the front window of his house had been shattered. There are no suspects in the incident.
