Sarah Jane (Sally) Villaume Dern passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 14, 2022, in Port Ludlow, Washington. Sally was born in Yakima, Wash. on Sept. 13, 1949, to Albert and Audrey Villaume.

Sally attended Yakima schools and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1967, then went on to Central Washington University and graduated in 1972 with a degree in Sociology. Sally had a great 24-year career in housing management for the city of Seattle. During Sally’s time in Seattle, she was very active in the Forgotten Children’s Organization and many other charities.

Sally married the love of her life John (Jack) Dern in 1993. They moved to Marrowstone Island where they lived many great years. While living on Marrowstone Island Sally stayed active, volunteering at the Norland Garden Club and various other community projects. They also enjoyed their time spent in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

After Jack’s passing in 2014 Sally downsized and moved to Port Ludlow where she lived out the remainder of her life. Sally had a deep love for her dogs (Bear, Cleo and Roxy) as they were her furry children. Sally was a great friend to many and was loved by all.

Sally is survived by her sister, Suzanne (Arvid) Monson; stepson, John (Erin) Dern; nieces, Valerie Monson, and Molly (Rob) Stutesman; nephew, Bill (Darci) Monson; as well as grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; and brother-in-law, Arvid.

Sally will forever be in our hearts and never forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at the Nordland Garden Club in spring 2023.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nordland Garden Club Scholarship Fund, 320 Garden Club Road, Marrowstone Island, WA 98358.
