Richard was the son of Del and Laverne Thompson. He was one of seven brothers and sisters.

On April 15, 1961, he married Madeleine Leischner at First Methodist Church. She was the love of his life.

He was hired at the age of 18 at Port Townsend Paper Company, then known as Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill. He worked in many areas of the mill, soon to become a millwright. He was the guy to call to get the job done.

He could fix most everything at home or at work. He was kind, sensitive, had a good sense of humor and was someone you could always depend upon.

He lived a good life, always enjoying his weekly poker nights with the boys, and his early morning golf outings with his buddies.

He was always happy to have his wife, kids, grandkids and even great grandkids by his side.

He left behind his wife, Madeleine, daughter Denise Arey and son Rick. Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was a great friend, father and husband. So sad, so unfair. Gone from this world, but never from our hearts and memories. He will always be missed.

Services were held at the Thompson’s residence, with family and friends.
