Reese Leon Hewett passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2024. Reese will always be remembered as having an air guitar in hand, singing AC/DC, and having a smile with a contagious laugh that made you smile along with him.
Reese was born in Susanville, CA on February 11, 1966, to Russell Hewett and Jannet Wilcox. He spent most of his younger years racing dirt bikes, camping, and enjoying hanging out with friends and family. He had many different types of jobs building houses, screen printing, and operating heavy equipment. In December of 2004 he moved to Port Hadlock and was hired on at Seton Construction operating heavy equipment where he quickly made tons of friends and was dubbed “Big Dad”.
In May of 2005 he met Tiffany Dempsey, soon after they married on April 8, 2006. Tiffany had a beautiful daughter, Isabella (Bella), who was 5 when her and Reese met, and he quickly had a partner in crime! He loved being a dad and helping raise her to become who she is today!
Reese had a love for screen printing and in 2010 they started a business in their garage. They worked long hours into evenings and weekends to grow it into now what our community knows as The Station Signs. It is located on Rhody Drive, the old historic Shell gas station, which he renovated to make it their own. He definitely had the gift to be able to talk to anyone and worked hard to form relationships with most businesses in Jefferson County. Reese truly had a love for our community, and many counted on him for his generous donations and support he gave for the schools, youth, community events and carrying on the legacy of many lost too young. Eight years ago Reese started selling Christmas Trees in the parking lot of The Station Signs where customers came back year after year just to have him pick out the best tree. He always gave it a good spin before he loaded it on their car. He was so vivacious and had a huge personality and loved to be the “life of the party”; if you were there you were having fun too!
Reese had a need for speed and loved racing dirt bikes or side by sides. The desert was his favorite, he spent a lot of time racing and being pit man at the Baja 1000. He also had a huge group of friends that he loved to side by side with. You knew that if he was on the trail you were going to get passed with a huge smile on his face! He was never afraid to show his love for his family and friends and never failed to say I love you!
Reese is survived by his wife Tiffany, daughter Isabella (Bella), mom Jannet, sisters Terri, Dorinda, and Regina. He is preceded in death by his father Russell “Pop” Hewett who came to live with Reese and Tiffany, until he passed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Port Townsend Elks on April 20, 2024, at 2:00pm. Please bring a dish to share and your best story to tell about Reese. In lieu of flowers please help carry on his spirit in donating to a local charity or event in our community.
