The Port Townsend Redhawks defeated the Chimacum Cowboys during this football season's rivalry game 79-51, which is believed to be the highest combined-scoring game at Memorial Field.
CHIMACUM
Chimacum coach Chris Storm said the Cowboys played really well offensively, but the young age of the team showed defensively.
"We have a lot of freshmen and a new coaching staff," Storm said, noting this is the first time playing together for most of the team. "We played really well."
Storm said one of the highlights from his team during the Friday night games was five touchdowns by Logan Storm.
"We are looking into it, but we believe that might be a school record for touchdowns," the coach said.
Preparing for their final regular-season game at 7 p.m. against Concrete at Memorial Field, Chris Storm said the team will be working on their defense.
"Our offense fought a war in that game," Chris Storm said. "For a young line, those kids play their hearts out every week."
PORT TOWNSEND
Leading the Redhawks with 210 rushing yards was Dylan Tracer, averaging 13.3 yards per carry.
Noa Apker-Montoya followed Tracers with 173 rushing yards, averaging 19.22 per carry.
"We rushed for almost 600 yards," said PT coach Patrick Gaffney.
Tracer also led the defense with 13 tackles and three assists. Cole Crawford had seven tackles and three assists followed by Apker-Montoya with six tackles.
This win has the Redhawks 2-2, giving them the fourth standing in the 1A Olympic Football League. They have a 3-5 record overall.
"This was my first rivalry game, the energy was higher than other games," Gaffney said. "Both teams played hard until the end.
Port Townsend will face off against Cascade Christian at 7 p.m. Nov. 3.
The Chimacum Cowboys and Port Townsend Braves Little League Football teams opened up the rivalry weekend between the schools with a game of their own Oct. 25.
