Becky was a very positive, energetic and happy woman. She made everyone feel special and important. Becky loved her family deeply and always wanted the best life ever for them. Her eyes would twinkle when she talked about them. She loved to take many pictures of her family and friends. Through trials, tragedies, and the loss of many loved ones, she endured and maintained her joy. Becky loved camping and walking on the beach. She had such a giving spirit, she loved to share anything she had. Including her life experiences. Becky touched so many lives in so many different ways. Becky motivated many by her words and actions. By remembering her may we be moved to love hard, and speak soft.

On Feb. 18, 2022, Becky collapsed on her front porch and lost her battle with degenerative heart disease. In 1996 her and her husband of 32 years Craig Barrus moved to Trout Creek, Montana where they purchased Open Gate Ranch and became foster parents. Where they took in boys from dysfunctional families. Through the years with their granddaughter, Serenity Barrus. They adopted six of the boys.

In 2018 Becky and Craig were recognized by U.S. Senator, Steve Daines as his choice for the prestigious Angels in Adoption Honor. Here is one quote Becky said when asked, “What is most rewarding about being a foster parent?” Becky answered, “Watching them grow, get the first real hug, seeing them become parents, and that first real SMILE!” ☺

Becky and Craig had three children, Charles, Tiffany, and Moses Barrus; six adopted sons, Erick, Damien, Travis, Shawn, Aaron and Chance Barrus; and many grandchildren.

Parents, Leonard and Norma Karen Kennedy; siblings, Phillip, Vincent, Jeffrey, Stephen, Priscilla Sobieaki, and Judy Jennings duPuy.

We are going to miss you Becky for a while. Sure looking forward to when all of us can once again give a good-to-see-you big hugs & kisses ♥
