The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 153 calls between Friday, Jan. 27, and Thursday, Feb. 2. Below are selected reports.

At 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, a wine theft was reported in the 400 block of West Sims Way. A woman wearing a mask entered a nearby business and stole expensive wine from the store.

The theft occurred the day before and it was recorded on video. Law enforcement requested a copy of the video surveillance and the crime is under investigation.

At 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 in the 1100 block of Water Street, a passerby noted an RV that appeared to be stealing power from an external outlet in the area. The RV was parked in front of a business nearby when officers arrived, but there didn’t appear to be any wire or anything plugged into the outlets. The vehicle was unoccupied and no crime was observed.

At 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 in the 1900 block of Sherman Street, a caller requested police to trespass someone in a nearby parking lot.

The person had been trespassed at an earlier date, and the caller wanted him to be trespassed from the parking lot as well. Officers spoke to the man who said he was there to visit a friend, and was legally allowed to be there.

Officers told the caller that the man couldn’t be legally trespassed if he was visiting a friend on the property. No crime occurred.

At 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, malicious mischief was reported in the 200 block of Monroe Street. A belligerent man was refusing to leave a nearby shelter, and he was seen swearing, throwing items, and trashing the place. Officers contacted the man and employees, gathering probable cause for malicious mischief and harassment.

The man was cited for malicious mischief and harassment, and was trespassed from the shelter for one year.

At 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 in the 1100 block of Water Street, the RV from a previous police log item had returned to the same location to steal power from an external outlet.

Officers arrived at the RV’s location and saw an extension cord plugged into the outlet. The officers contacted the person inside, stating that the power is being stolen from the city. The RV owner was given a warning.

At 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, someone in the 1900 block of East Sims Way stole 14 large landscaping rocks from a nearby property, with the rocks valued at $500.

There are no suspects at this time, and the property owner is attempting to locate video footage of the theft from a neighboring business.

At 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, a disturbance was reported in the 600 block of Clay Street after a resident informed law enforcement of a man yelling all night, and currently laying in the common area of a nearby apartment complex and claiming to be talking to God.

Officers spoke with the man, who was yelling at the time, and saying, “I’m talking to the universe.”

The officers asked the man to keep his conversation with the cosmos to himself, and the man said he was going to leave the area to do some errands.

At 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 in the 1400 block of F Street, a man was reportedly seen running through the golf course. He was described as wearing a black hoodie, black mask, and red pants.
