Peter moved to Port Townsend in 1977 after a technical career in Hollywood’s film industry. His love and dedication to art was woven into every aspect of his being. He had a deep love and an unwavering defense of plants and animals and an outspoken strength around his own sexuality in a different and oppressive time as a gay man born in 1935. He watched many of his friends die from HIV and AIDS in the early days of the epidemic, including one of his longtime partners, Robin Hood.

During his 44 years in Port Townsend he was politically active in the anti-war, LGBTQ, and local environmental movements. After the first invasion of Iraq he was evicted from his downtown studio for creating an anti-war display. In the 1990s he helped organize the Port Townsend branch of Hands off Washington, including directing a large contingent in the Rhody Parade for LGBTQ rights. His public art commissions included banners at the Hanes Place Park and Ride, the Co-op, the Library, the Wooden Boat Festival, the P.T. Film Festival and a solo show at the Max Grover Gallery.

He will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be announced for sometime in the summer of 2022.
