Nine East Jefferson wrestlers are moving on to the regional tournament after an impressive overall showing from the Rivals program Saturday.

The EJ boys wrestling team ventured south to Silverdale to compete in the the sub-regional wrestling meet with four other high schools Feb. 5.

The girls team travelled to Rogers High in Puyallup, and faced 12 other schools for sub-regionals Saturday.

The Rivals battled for coveted spots in the wrestling regional tournament coming Feb. 12.

Of the EJ athletes who advanced, four earned league champion spots in their division, one claimed second place, and four ended in third place.

The four Nisqually League wrestling champions are: Mi Amada Lanphear Ramirez (115-pound division), Logan Massie (170 division), Gage Barry (195 division), and Lars Wakefield (285 division).

Devon Bennett Anderson won silver in the 195 division.

Four EJ wrestlers claimed third in their weight class, including Chloe Lampert (140 division), Sam Lampert (170 division), Elliot Pflueger (220 division), and Beau Manuel (285 division).

Additionally three Rivals came in fourth in their weight class, meaning they could compete as alternates if any opposing athletes in the same division pull out of Regionals.

Savanna Hoffmann (125 weight class), Melody Douglas (135 class), and Ike Banks (145 class) each came in fourth and finished with alternate positions.

Regionals will occur Saturday, Feb. 12. The boys will travel out to Hoquiam while the girls will go to Aberdeen for their tourneys.

The top five grapplers per division for the girls, and top six grapplers per division for the boys will advance to state competition later in February.
