Naomi Marcus died surrounded by her beloved family on May 20, 2020 in Port Townsend, Washington. She is survived by her children Larry, Cliff and Emily, her grandchildren Amanda, Laura and Etta and her great-grandchildren Ayla, Josh and Ottilie. Her daughter Janie Sue preceded her in death in January.

Naomi was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on August 14, 1929. She married Robert Marcus in 1950. They raised four incredible children before divorcing in 1979.

She earned a liberal arts degree in midlife from San Francisco State University, was fortunate enough to have traveled the world and became the Director of the World Affairs Counsel in San Francisco.

Naomi loved sports and having an active lifestyle. She started playing golf at age 50, having been an avid tennis player previously, and loved it from Day 1. She was seen putting and lunching with friends at the Port Townsend Golf Course the day before she died.

After living in the San Francisco Bay Area for 27 years, she moved to Port Townsend to be closer to her son and daughter, Cliff and Emily. She loved the town of Port Townsend and was an enthusiastic supporter of local arts, the film festival, music and restaurants.

Above all, Naomi loved her family and loved her friends.  She would want each one of you to know how meaningful and enjoyable you made her life.

The family requests donations to one of Naomi’s favorite charities instead of sending flowers. This could include the local food bank and the Rose Theatre.

A celebration of Naomi will take place at a future, unknown date.
