Joseph Patrick Ciliberto spent his last hours in the company of his loving family before passing away peacefully in Port Townsend, Washington on Feb. 28, 2022, at the age of 71.

Born on Feb. 11, 1951, Joe was welcomed via adoption into the Ciliberto family by Angeline and Joseph of Buffalo, New York. In the coming years they welcomed Joe’s younger sister Paddi. The siblings shared a bond of mutual love and adoration for one another that survived even Paddi’s untimely passing in 2015.

Friends and loved ones remember Joe for his remarkable style, swagger, and a beloved penchant for storytelling. A stalwart adventurer, he pursued his passion for hunting, fishing and embracing the wild that he loved until the moment of his passing. He instilled his love for the outdoors and his sense of spontaneous enjoyment of nature in his daughters, family and friends alike, spawning stories of Joe that will be told for many years to come.

Joe was a devoted father and an undeniable presence in his daughters’ lives. He took great pleasure in doting on the ones he loved in the form of great home-cooked meals, good company and gifts. His recipes will be passed down and cherished for many years and his vivacious spirit will inspire many great reminiscences.

Joe was a loyal friend to many, some who preceded him in passing and for whom he mourned with a great sentimentality. His kindness and humanity will be remembered by strangers, acquaintances and loved ones as he used his charm and wit to great effect and to the benefit of those around him.

He is survived by his two daughters, Amanda Christofferson of Port Townsend and Kate Ciliberto of Chimacum; as well as his grandchildren, Oliver Christofferson and Clara Christofferson.

A memorial service is scheduled in July for family and close friends.
