The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 272 calls for service between Saturday, July 30 and Friday, Aug. 5. Below are selected reports.

At 2:22 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Port Hadlock, a woman reported hearing an intruder in her home.

Dispatchers noted she was talking in a hushed manner.

The woman said she had been awoken by a loud, crashing noise. She climbed out a window to escape the house and took refuge in the barn.

She also said she couldn’t actually see her home from her hiding place.

The noise, she said, sounded like somebody was stumbling through the house in the dark.

The caller also said her mother was still inside. Her mom also had a pistol that she had recently purchased.

Deputies responded and checked the area outside the home and then searched the interior of the residence.

A deputy found a Roomba robot vacuum that had sucked up some clothing and gotten stuck, and was making noises as it tried to continue its path through a bedroom.

At 8:37 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Port Hadlock, an officer contacted people in a motor home that had been parked for an extended period.

A woman inside the motor home said she was waiting for her sister’s mechanic to come back to check her brakes.

At 3:21 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Port Ludlow, a woman said her doorbell camera showed that the neighbor’s dogs were running around loose.

The woman said the dogs had been running around 2 minutes ago.

A deputy tried to call the owner of the dogs.

A deputy went to the scene and found the dogs were not running loose.

At 5:39 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Brinnon, a caller said his wife was being stalked by a man who was making threats via email and text messages.

He said his wife works in real estate, and the harasser had a history of aggressive stalking.

The stalker had also called the woman’s workplace, and had left messages about things he would do to her.

At 6:39 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Quilcene, a caller said a woman at the end of the block was throwing things out of her home.

A dispatcher could hear someone in the background talking loudly and frantically.

Authorities were told that new tenants had moved in and were throwing the possessions of the previous occupant out of the trailer.

A deputy responded and found two women engaged in a yelling match about their living situation not working out.

One accused the other of throwing water at her, and the other said she had been hit.

One woman then said she wanted to just get her stuff and leave, and a deputy stood by as she gathered her possessions and left.

A deputy also noted the woman who had answered the door was not wearing a top, but was covering her bosom with a piece of fabric, which the officer noted as being “strange.”

At 9:13 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Brinnon, a woman said her dog had been stolen and then molested by the animal thief.

She said she believed the thief was selling the dog’s sperm.

The caller offered to provide more details to the responding deputy.

Authorities said the caller suffered from mental health issues and had a history of reporting other unfounded incidents.

At 10:54 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Brinnon, a caller said someone stole their RV and drove it down the road.

A friend’s rifle had been inside at the time.

A deputy made contact with the owner of the rifle, who said it had not been stolen but had been loaned to someone else.

The man was advised about letting others have possession of a firearm that was registered in his name.
