The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 600 calls for service between Saturday, March 19 and Friday, April 1. Below are selected reports.

At 1:31 p.m. Tuesday, March 29 in Port Hadlock, a woman said a neighbor had threatened her.

The woman said she had been confronted by a man in his 50s, who was with his son, who was in his 30s. She said he said he was going to bust her.

A deputy determined the dispute was over a neighbor being upset by a woman smoking cigarettes outside. The neighbor claimed the woman was smoking crack and meth.

The parties were advised to avoid each other, but were also told they could get a protection order from court.

The woman asked that the man and son be given a trespassing warning so they would not come back; the man and his son were then trespassed from the property.

At 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 in Nordland, a man said a brand-new 27-ton Champion brand log-splitter was stolen sometime overnight.

The log-splitter was not on a trailer and would have been towed during the theft, the caller said.

The splitter was worth $15,000 and had been taken from a job site at the end of Nolton Road. It was described as yellow and black in color, and was missing fenders.

At 10:02 p.m. Thursday, March 31 in Port Hadlock, a woman said a man had been threatening people.

The man had said he would slice the throat of the caller’s brother.

The man did not brandish a knife; he had left the house and was last seen walking down the road. She thought he left for a friend’s house.

The caller said she was in a relationship with the man, who was 43 and had no history of being aggressive.

She said he was very drunk and was having a psychotic breakdown.

The brother who was threatened lives in Tacoma.

The caller was not concerned for her brother, but was worried that the intoxicated man would try to drive somewhere.

She said that, thankfully, he could not find his keys before he left.

At 3:51 p.m. Friday, April 1 in Brinnon, an attempt to siphon gas from a parked vehicle was reported.

The theft happened sometime the day before on US 101, and the thief left the hose hanging from the gas tank.

At 4:45 p.m. Friday, April 1 in Chimacum, a woman reported a man who was not in compliance with a parenting plan that allowed him four-hour visits.

He was sending threatening messages, and the woman said that he only communicates through text messages.

She said she had not allowed him to visit because her lawyer said he was out of compliance with drug treatment that was mandated in the parenting plan.

The woman was told she could get a protection order from court.

At 4:13 p.m. Friday, April 1 in Chimacum, a caller said their 13-year-old daughter was being harassed at school.

Someone took a photo from a naked woman off the internet and put the daughter’s face on it, then made it into a flag that was passed around school.

A staff member at the school confiscated the flag, but the caller said she did not want to press charges, but had asked the school for the names of the students involved so she could contact the students’ parents.

The school would not share the names, however, and the caller wanted the sheriff’s office to mediate the matter.

The woman was told she could obtain a court order to protect her daughter.
