The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 279 calls for service between Saturday, July 23 and Friday, July 29. Below are selected reports.

At 2:02 p.m. Sunday, July 24 in Brinnon, a caller reported the theft of a purple storage tub that had been left under a tarp in the driveway near the front of the home.

Inside the tub was a Craftsman electric chainsaw, a Ryobi circular saw, and miscellaneous hand tools.

The resident reported hearing a truck outside the home around 8 p.m. the night before.

At 4:05 p.m. Sunday, July 24, a Port Hadlock woman said her 13-year-old granddaughter had been assaulted. They were in the parking lot of Jefferson Healthcare Medical Center waiting for treatment.

The assailant was a 14-year-old girl. 

A case report was in progress.

At 2:10 a.m. Monday, July 25 in Chimacum, a resident reported a case of malicious mischief that had happened in the past 12 hours.

The back window of a Jeep had been found shattered.

A deputy examined the glass and it appeared the window had an existing chip in the corner of the window and when the vehicle door was shut, the pressure pushed the glass out and broke the window. 

The shattered window did not appear to have been caused by a malicious act, according to the deputy, who previously worked in an auto body repair shop.

At 10:43 a.m. Monday, July 25 in Port Hadlock, a lawyer called authorities on behalf of a client who was trying to sell his home.

He said the man wanted to sell his house because his daughter had moved in and was being mean to him. The attorney wanted to talk to authorities about options for getting a harassment order and an eviction.

A deputy called back and spoke to the lawyer, who was worried about the man being pushed out of his own residence. The deputy explained the process for applying for a protection order or seeking an eviction.
