Jefferson County Sheriff's Log | I think the neighbor did it

Posted

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 233 calls for service between Saturday, Aug. 6 and Friday, Aug. 12. Below are selected reports.

At 10:19 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 in Port Hadlock, a person in the parking lot of the sheriff’s office requested contact with a deputy.

The woman told dispatchers that someone keyed her car doors a few days ago.

She had a potential suspect in mind but did not want to share that with dispatchers.

A deputy contacted the woman, who said she wanted to remain anonymous.

Some scratches were found on the woman’s vehicle, but they did not appear to have been made by a key or similar object.

The woman thought they had been left by a neighbor who she had a falling out with.

Upon closer examination, a deputy believed the scratches looked more like ones that would be left by a dog jumping up on the car door.

At 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 in La Push, a man and a woman both claimed to have been assaulted by the other person.

The woman had a swollen lip that appeared to be in the healing stage.

The dispute had apparently happened four hours earlier and the pair had since separated and were going to Port Angeles in different vehicles.

Forks police were also notified of the incident, and it was unclear if the dispute occurred in Jefferson County or Clallam County. The case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for a charging decision.

At 9:59 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 in Port Ludlow, a resident reported a theft. The house did not appear to have been broken into, but a purse, car keys, and insurance and registration papers were missing.

At 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 in Port Hadlock, a bike was reported stolen.

It was described as a green Surly Ogre. It had 26-inch wheels and a 5-foot-long Surly trailer attached to it.

The bike was last seen on Aug. 6 in front of the Ajax Cafe, and had been locked with a padlock.

The bike owner later called back and said employees at the cafe had moved the bike behind the building for safekeeping because other things had been stolen previously and they did not want the bike to get taken.
