The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 600 calls for service between Saturday, March 19 and Friday, April 1. Below are selected reports.

At 12:49 p.m. Saturday, March 19 in Brinnon, a caller reported a burglary to a cabin on their property that had occured sometime in the past three weeks.

Glass was broken on the front door to gain entry to the cabin.

At 3:01 p.m. Saturday, March 19 in Port Townsend, a caller reported a case of potential animal abuse near the dump.

The caller did not have the address to the property, but said a horse was being starved.

A deputy called back multiple times and no one answered the phone. A deputy left a message advising the resident to call back on a weekday and ask for animal control.

At 10:22 p.m. Sunday, March 20 in Brinnon, a deputy pulled over a driver on US 101 for driving under the influence after noticing she was going 35 mph in a 55-mph zone and was weaving on and off the roadway.

The driver admitted she had been drinking and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She also refused to acknowledge her constitutional rights when arrested for DUI.

A tow truck was called for the woman’s car and she was taken to the jail for a breathalyzer test.

Another driver was also arrested for DUI; it was a friend of the other driver who had been driving on US 101 looking for the woman.

The man was found to be impaired and was taken into custody by the Washington State Patrol.

A dog in one of the vehicles was taken to the animal shelter for safekeeping.

At 10:18 a.m. Monday, March 21 in Port Ludlow, a man reported an overnight burglary in his shed.

He said a quad had been taken, and was on his way to Snohomish County to retrieve information about the missing vehicle.

The man said an unlocked shed had been entered sometime around 2 to 3 a.m. that day, and a locked key box was broken into and a key for the quad removed.

A generator was also thought to be missing.

At 5:21 p.m. Monday, March 21 in Port Ludlow, a caller said a neighbor had just driven over cinderblocks the caller had put in place to protect a culvert.

A deputy determined the incident was related to ongoing issues about an easement.

The caller said the neighbor put everything back at the time of the call, because he listens to a police scanner and was likely aware of the call to authorities.

A deputy explained the process of getting an anti-harassment order, but the caller thought it would be better if a deputy patrolled the area the next day, when a police presence was not expected.

At 8:23 p.m. March 21 in Port Hadlock, dispatchers could hear a woman in the background of a 911 call yelling that she has just been jumped by a guy and a girl.

The caller said she was held down by the man while another woman beat her.

She did not know the pair, she said. She declined medical assistance from an aid unit.

The pair left the scene of the assault in a silver Jetta.

A deputy found the Jetta at Irondale Road and Third Street.

A witness told a deputy she saw one woman attack the other, and a man trying to break them apart.

Deputies were given conflicting stories on the conflict. The assault may have been captured on a video camera from a nearby business, and statements were taken from both women, who were in their mid-20s.
