The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 245 calls for service between Saturday, March 11 and Friday, March 17. Below are selected reports.

At 1:09 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 in Port Ludlow, a resident reported a case of fraud after roughly $14,000 in cryptocurrency had gone missing from the caller’s account. The woman said her account was hacked on March 11 after she responded to a fake email about her account that she believed was legitimate.

At 9:08 a.m. Wednesday, March 15 in Chimacum, a woman said her 17-year-old daughter was getting harassing texts from unknown senders.

One of the texts warned the sender would “kill boyfriend to be with you.”

A detective investigated the number used to send the text messages and found it was associated with a spoofing app.

At 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 in Port Hadlock, authorities received a third-hand report of a dog attacking a child.

A bus driver saw the incident and told another person, who called police.

An elderly woman had a dog on a leash, but let go of the leash and the dog grabbed a child who was 5 or 6 by the ankle and started to drag her away. A deputy responded, and the bus driver said it was an ongoing issue with the dog.

The deputy later learned the dog was a 1-year-old pup, and the family said the dog was playing with the girl.

The child was not hurt. The family was advised to leave the dog at home and not bring it to the bus stop.

At 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 in Port Hadlock, a man said items had been stolen from his storage unit.

The missing items included a guitar and clothing.

The break-in happened within the past 24 hours.
