The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 257 calls for service between Saturday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 14. Below are selected reports.

At 5:53 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 in Port Hadlock, a caller reported a 24-year-old daughter who was receiving inappropriate texts from an unknown man.

The woman was too afraid to call 911 herself.

The caller wanted the case documented in case the harassment continued.

The inappropriate contact began after the daughter responded to an advertisement that promised free kittens.

After she called the number, the man kept calling her back and started sending messages with vulgar language.

The woman blocked the number.

At 12:19 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 in Port Ludlow, a resident reported the theft of a smoker that was taken from the back deck of a commercial kitchen.

The theft suspect was a woman who had been reported to law enforcement a number of times in recent days due to her concerns about her visitation rights being taken away.

The caller said she had been upset, and thought she was acting out, but had no proof that the woman had taken the smoker.

The smoker was stolen sometime after 5:30 p.m. the previous evening. It was valued at $200.

At 1:13 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 in Port Ludlow, an empty home was burglarized.

It was believed the intruder crawled into the home through a small window in a bathroom that wasn’t locked.

Tools worth $600 were stolen, as well as a refrigerator that was worth between $800 and $1,000.

A deputy talked to the person who reported the burglary. He said the home belonged to his late father, and he and his brother have control over the house.

Nothing was damaged inside the house but things had been tossed around.
