The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 228 calls for service between Saturday, Aug. 13 and Friday, Aug. 19. Below are selected reports.
At 9:42 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 in Quilcene, a woman said she had been head-butted by another person.
The woman said they were both yelling at each other but the man was now trying to leave.
The man then departed the scene. The woman wasn’t sure if he was on foot or had gotten into a vehicle.
The woman asked for a deputy to call her back.
An officer tried, but the phone number that was provided did not work. A deputy responded to the home and the woman said she wasn’t sure what had happened.
The man, 36, claimed to have suffered from a seizure. She said she remembered arguing with the man, but nothing else.
A deputy noticed a mark on the woman’s nose but it appeared to be older bruising.
The woman was advised to call 911 if she needed help again.
At 3:21 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 in Brinnon, authorities received an anonymous report that animals were being abused. Pigs and a calf had been seen, along with multiple feral cats, and the caller thought the animals were being neglected.
An animal control officer visited the property and noted the pigs and cow appeared to be healthy.
The officer will follow up if additional complaints are received.
At 2:10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18 in Quilcene, authorities were called about a dispute involving two men and a woman and heard conflicting accounts of what had happened.
A man said his father’s wife had assaulted him. He said he had been struck with the person’s hands, and rocks, possibly, as well.
The caller was very intoxicated and was having difficulty talking.
He said he tried to push past the woman and she grabbed his shirt and told him to leave and stop walking toward the property.
He was advised he was no longer welcome there.
No one was injured, and authorities noted the dispute may be related to mental health issues.
