The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 240 calls for service between Saturday, March 5 and Friday, March 11. Below are selected reports.
At 3:41 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 in Port Hadlock, a caller in the 100 block of East Moore Street reported the theft of a chainsaw.
A neighbor noticed a man and woman on the property, and it was later determined that three chainsaws had been taken from a shop.
The theft occurred two days earlier.
At 10:52 a.m. Thursday, March 10, a theft was reported in the 1000 block of Sandy Shore Lake Road.
A Rayonier security officer found someone on the company’s timberland who was cutting wood without permission.
The man was issued a trespass notice at the request of Rayonier.
At 10:57 a.m. Friday, March 11 in Port Hadlock, litter was reported at Ninth Avenue and West Kinkaid Street.
A caller said clothes and trash had been piled up next to a fire hydrant, and was worried the stuff would prevent the fire department from getting to the hydrant.
A deputy checked the location and trash was not in the way of the hydrant.
There are no suspects.
At 12:06 p.m. Friday, March 11 in Chimacum, a caller in the 7700 block of Beaver Valley Road said a neighbor had notified him that someone had parked a truck on his property earlier.
The caller had a photo of the truck, and was worried someone was on the land attempting to steal timber.
At 8:08 p.m. Friday, March 11 in Port Hadlock, a resident in the 200 block of Old Hadlock Road said a neighbor had threatened him and said he was going to beat him up.
The caller said the neighbor was in the process of “causing destruction” to his own property.
Law enforcement responded and the neighbor was ultimately arrested on a warrant from the Department of Corrections.
