James Bruce Minish Jr., age 64, passed away on March 18, 2021, at 4:17 p.m. as a motorcycle victim of a vehicular homicide in Tucson, Arizona.

Jim was born on June 3, 1956, in Port Townsend, Washington, to Jim and Mary Minish as the fourth of eight children. He graduated in 1974 from Port Townsend High School and worked jobs in marine and vehicle equipment. In 1987, he bought Port Townsend Honda and Marine, which he owned and operated for 25 years, affectionately earning the title “Honda Jim” around town. In 2013, he relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where he excelled as a Vehicle Control Official with the United States Air Force at the 48th Rescue Squadron. He was an inspiration to all who worked with him and lit up every room with his bright smile, sense of humor, and enduring positive attitude.

Jim was an avid motorcyclist and bicyclist. He loved the outdoors, cooking, and his family. He enjoyed connecting with people and “never met a stranger.” He was always there to lend a hand, providing his vast knowledge of mechanics and home improvement to anyone in need. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Minish (Aaron Terry) and Lisa Minish (Bernard Murray); and five grandchildren.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at the Fort Worden Reunion House (210 Battery Way, Port Townsend, Wash.). This is a family-friendly event, refreshments provided. All who knew him are welcome to attend and are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts, one of Jim’s favorites.
