Frieda McMahan, who lived in the Pleasant Harbor Community in Brinnon, Washington for more than 30 years, died Nov. 27 following an illness. She was surrounded by family in her home.

Frieda grew up in Seattle, Wash. and graduated from Ballard High School.  Following graduation, she worked in a medical office in Seattle and volunteered in school libraries when her children were young. Later, she earned a medical secretary certificate and worked in Everett.

Frieda loved the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends at beaches around Puget Sound. She treasured the Hood Canal area and was grateful to have many good friends in the Brinnon community. There were many favorite spots in that locale where Frieda enjoyed walking with her pups; Sparky, Emmy Lou and Millie.

Frieda married Duane McMahan in 1959 and they had four children. She married Warner Frye in 1995.

Frieda is survived by her children, Cindy, Cathy (Carl), Jeff (Shirley), and Bethany; her grandchildren, Jesse, Nicola, and Callahan; and by her sister, Mary; and sister-in-law, Clara.

Frieda was a loving and caring friend, mom and grandma, and a beautiful, poised, and charming woman, with a strong will and a great sense of humor. We will miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.  A Celebration of Life is planned for the new year.
