Frances “Boots” Murkowski, a longtime resident in Quilcene, passed away peacefully at home May 29, 2022, surrounded by friends and family. Boots worked at Quilcene Fish Hatchery for U.S. Fish and Wildlife. She spent many years volunteering as a 4-H leader, was a secretary for the Quilcene Volunteer Fire Department, Washington Angus Association and Western States Angus Association.
She was married for 56 years to Tomas L. Murkowski until his passing in 2013. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Blackstock (Ted Blackstock) of Givens Springs, Idaho. She is survived in death by daughter, Jean DeLisle (Tim DeLisle) of Grants Pass, Oregon. She had four grandchildren: Travis Marsh (Becca Marsh) of Grants Pass, Oregon, Austin Marsh (Nicole Marsh) of Austin, Texas, Katelyn Comfort (Jake Comfort) and Tyler Blackstock (Carolyn Sween) of Givens Springs, Idaho; and three great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23 at her beloved farm in Quilcene, 271 Shady Lane, Quilcene, Wash.
