Donald “Don” LeRoy Thomas, age 59, formerly of Port Townsend, Washington, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2021,in Kirkland, Wash., after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Don grew up in Port Townsend, where he was a strong student and varsity basketball player, before graduating from Port Townsend High School in 1979. Don then attended Washington State University, where he joined Delta Upsilon Fraternity, and received his B.A. in Finance in 1983.

Upon graduation from WSU, Don spent a few years working in the Seattle area before moving to California — both for work and for the weather! Though he worked for other financial institutions during his career, Don’s biggest contribution was the 23 years he spent as Chief Operations Officer, Vice President and Equities Director for David White & Associates in San Ramon, California.

Don is preceded in death by his father, William Thomas; mother, Jeanne Thomas; and brother Ronald Thomas. Surviving family members include son Zachary Mobley; stepmother Sylvia Thomas; brothers William (Gloria) Thomas, Michael Thomas, and Raymond Thomas; nieces Michel Thomas Grokv (Vance) and Natashia Thomas; nephews Matthew, Christian, Michael and Joseph Thomas; and great-niece and nephews Abby and Luke (Natashia) Thomas, and Ty Grokv (Michel).

Don will be remembered for his engaging smile, enthusiastic attitude, hilarious sense of humor, kind heart, and zest for life. Don made friends easily and naturally and always saw the positive side of life — may our friend Rest in Peace.

A scholarship has been set up in Don’s honor; contributions may be made to: PTHS Scholarship Foundation, Attn: Donald L. Thomas Memorial Scholarship, PO Box 1658, Port Townsend, WA  98368.
