A Chimacum man and woman with injuries were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a Honda coupe they were riding in crashed down an embankment on Center Road Thursday morning.
A third occupant of the vehicle was taken to Jefferson Healthcare with minor injuries, according to a press release from East Jefferson Fire Rescue (EJFR).
The 1990s two-door Honda Civic drifted off the road, hit a tree and rolled several times before coming to rest in a field near milepost 1 at about 10:35 a.m., according to EJFR.
The three occupants had extricated themselves from the vehicle by the time emergency responders arrived.
A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both of Chimacum, were flown to Harborview with chest and head injuries, the release said. A 19-year-old man, who does not have a permanent address, was taken to Jefferson Healthcare complaining of back pain.
The victims’ identities were not immediately available.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the accident, according to the press release.
