Penny crossed into the Spirit World at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2022.

She was born April 17, 1941, in Tulalip, Washington to mother Elsie Marie LaDue and Father Ernest LaDue. They lived near Yakima, Wash.; at age 9 they moved to Irondale, Wash.; later as a child she moved to a little house on Sheridan in Port Townsend. Penny grew up with two brothers and two sisters, Roger, Daryl, Sandy, and Roberta; Penny was the oldest.

Penny enjoyed being surrounded by many friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, and brothers. She met Harry R. Goodrich (“Shiner”) when they were 18 years old; they went to Idaho and eloped after knowing each other for two months. Soon they had a son, Harry Jr., and a couple of years later, Floyd (Timmy), then Curt, and a few years later after three wild boys, there came a blessing, a daughter Wendy. Penny and Shiner were married 25 years.

Penny enjoyed being a mother, an aunt, a Grandma, and a Great Grandmother. She played a little women’s softball in her adult life, was well known to kick some ass in pool, and she played on local pool leagues. She worked at the local mill for a while in the bag plant making several great friends there.

In the late ‘80s she met her next love (“Governor”) Dan Jackson. The Gov. worked for the federal highways, so they traveled a lot and saw many beautiful and amazing places. They were together for years and years and one day, Governor Dan asked mom to marry him. They happened to be in Idaho working at the time; they got brother Harvey and his lady and had a small ceremony. They were married 34 years.

Losses in her life were Governor Dan; son, Harry Jr.; sister, Bert; brother, Roger; her mother, Elsie; and her grandpa Gus.

She had nine grandkids, Nicholle, Ashely, Zac, Bailey, Harry, Julia, Christian, Casey, and Colby; and four great-grandkids, Kenzey, Karsyn, Lily, and Addison.

Penny was known by many, loved by several. We have heavy hearts and you will be missed.

This strong lady loved the Seahawks, the Hilltop, her grandkids, chrystals, and good classic rock-and-roll. Good memories remain.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Hilltop Tavern. In fact, stop in, and have a beer and a cheers to Penny.

A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge.
