A Port Townsend woman and a Quilcene man were injured March 24 in a crash at the intersection of state routes 19 and 104. The Washington State Patrol reported that a car driven by Lavonne M. A Port Townsend woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle at 11 a.m., March 24 after she pulled out in front of a vehicle at the intersection of State Route 19 and State Route 104 and was struck by a Quilcene man, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.
Lavonne M. Geiger, 52, had stopped her black Chevrolet S10 pickup at the intersection, then pulled out in front of a 2005 Ford Ranger pickup being driven westbound by James McCullough, 83, of Quilcene, according to a WSP report. The pickup Geiger was driving was struck on the driver’s side.
Geiger was in critical condition on Friday afternoon. McCullough was taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.
Both Geiger and McCullough were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
“It appears the driver of a black Chevy S10 was coming off Highway 19 attempting to turn left onto Highway 104 and pulled out in front of a silver Ford Ranger heading west on 104,” said Port Ludlow Fire Chief Brad Martin.
The patrol report indicated the cause of the accident was Geiger’s “failure to yield the right of way.”
Both lanes of SR 104 were blocked for two hours while officers investigated the accident, Martin said.
Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue, East Jefferson Fire Rescue, Quilcene Fire Rescue and Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash.
