An improvised explosive was found outside Brinnon Mini Storage Feb. 1.

Jefferson County Sheriff Joe Noel said what was described as a “black plastic thing on side of a building with fuse and a white pipe” was found underneath a piece of wood by the side of the building.

The device was described as a PVC pipe that contained explosives, and shrapnel was wrapped in tape to the outside of the pipe.

The explosive was about 2 inches wide by 12 inches long.

Deputies were called to the business at 5:02 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1.

A deputy cleared the area of people while a bomb squad from the Washington State Patrol was called in.

The device will be sent to the Washington State Patrol crime lab to be checked for fingerprints.
