Strait Turners wood turning club will have its first general meeting and demonstration for 2022 later this month.

David Ellsworth, one of the original members of the American Association of Woodturners (member No. 1), will give the demonstration. Ellsworth is generally considered one of the “fathers” of modern woodturning and will give an interactive remote demonstration.

The general meeting will start at noon Tuesday,
Jan. 24 and the demonstration will begin at 1 p.m.

In keeping with the club’s effort to go “back to the basics,” Ellsworth will talk about  “The Natural Edge Bowl.”

The program is a prerecorded two-hour video presentation, but Ellsworth will be available during and after the program to answer any questions from the audience.

Strait Turners continues to meet online. Those interested in woodturning are invited to visit the organization’s website at www.straitturners.org. There, visitors can join the club to participate in this demonstration and other activities.
