Highway 101 injury crash

An 18-year-old Grayland woman was injured Saturday evening during a two-car collision on Highway 101 near Brinnon.

The crash occurred after the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Classic sedan, a 20-year-old Grayland woman, was going south on Highway 101 near Bee Mill Road when she lost control on wet pavement.

The driver crossed the centerline, according to the Washington State Patrol, then hit a jersey barrier on the north shoulder of the highway.

A 35-year-old Lacey man who was driving in the other direction in a 2013 Subaru Outback swerved into the southbound lane to avoid a collision.

The Chevrolet hit the Subaru in the right rear corner of the vehicle, however, sending the Subaru into the embankment.

The Lacey man was not hurt.

The driver of the Chevrolet and another passenger, a 19-year Grayland man, also escaped injury.

According to the State Patrol, the collision was due to the Grayland woman speeding too fast for conditions. The State Patrol said she would be cited.

The injured passenger was taken by an aid car to Jefferson Healthcare for treatment.

The highway was blocked after the crash, which was reported at 6:14 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

Both vehicles were totaled and were removed from the scene by Northwest Towing & Recovery.
