Steve and Joanie Rondel wave as they depart the RV campground at Point Hudson recently in his replica of an antique Ford coupe convertible.
“You can tell it’s a replica because it has an engine that works,” he joked.
The couple was visiting Port Townsend from Redmond, and it was their second camping trip at Point Hudson within a month. Usually, Steve Rondel said, they stay at Fort Worden.
“We have camped at Fort Worden for 30 years until we discovered this place. You can see the beach; hear the waves crashing on the shore.
“This is a very special place,” Rondel said, a retiree who has lived all over the world.
Port Townsend, as well, is wonderful, the couple said. They were using this visit to look for a house in the area, they added.
