Effective Saturday, Dec. 10, Washington State Ferries has placed a temporary weight restriction for vehicle access to the Edmonds-Kingston ferry route.
The temporary weight restriction is being imposed until further notice due to the Edmonds Ferry Terminal's transfer span. Over-sized and over-width (more than 8-foot-6) vehicles are not be permitted to travel on the ferry during this time, Washington State Ferries announced Friday afternoon, Dec. 9.
Vehicles weighing less than 80,000 pounds are allowed on the condition that they adhere to the new maximum weight guidelines: one-axle vehicle 20 tons (40,000 pounds); two-axle vehicle 31 tons (62,000 pounds) and three-axle vehicle 40 tons (80,000 pounds).
Signs are to be posted at the terminal as a reminder of these guidelines.
