Warren supports immigrants

Posted

I have been horrified by our country’s current treatment of immigrants. The Trump administration has banned immigrants from certain countries, severely decreased the numbers of people allowed visas, closed our doors to refugees, spent billions on ineffective walls at the borders and imprisoned thousands, including families and children.

Granted, our immigration system has been broken for some time due to the lack of congressional cooperation in making a clear and humane policy. However, there is hope!

Elizabeth Warren has a coherent plan for immigration reform that reflects the values that I believe in. She will decriminalize migration and refocus enforcement on serious criminal activity.

She plans to get rid of for-profit detention centers, end unnecessary detention, maintain DACA protections and provide due process to those seeking asylum. She recognizes the value of immigrants to our country and would expand legal immigration consistent with our values.

I support Elizabeth Warren for president because she has sensible, well-thought-out plans for this and other issues.

She came from a working class family and knows how life is for those of us who have to work for a living. All of her life she has been, and continues to be, passionate about making our government work for us, not the wealthy elite.

I encourage you to join me in support of Elizabeth Warren for president.

"The Trump administration has banned immigrants from certain countries,".....Yes, the very same ban that Obama put in. Our current POTUS is enforcing our immigration laws, if you have a problem with our laws get Congress to change them.

Warren wants to extend Medicare for illegals, as do all of the other Democrats running for POTUS. When we have some of our own citizens going without decent health care you really want to provide free health care for illegals?

Warren supports the Paris accords/GND, have you even read either of those documents? I have, and I say "no way".

No way Warren.

I stand with Justin Hale 100%. I agree with helping others but not at the expense of US citizens. My brother Ed Radley (killed in an accident last year) wrote an article on this very subject and it was published in the Leader.

Just wondering why this "Rich" Country can't support immigrants, legal or illegal? We spend more money keeping people out of this country than we do on the homeless. And just where do we have decent access to health care in this country? In the real world the government has already cut social security and medicare. I got a cost of living increase and it only cost me $9 a month. My drug costs went up, my medicare, taken out of my social security. Women really pay for staying home and taking care of their children. I now make about $109 a month take home from social security. nibble, nibble. The rich have it made, and Trump and his cronies are going to keep it that way. As I always have said, I ain't rich enough to be a Republican.

VOTE ELIZABETH WARREN, SHE CAN TAKE DOWN TRUMP!

Marge, I'll give you a couple of reasons why we can't and should not give free health care to illegals. One of the bloggers in the Leader was bemoaning our national debt, and of course blaming it all on President Trump. You say we are a "rich country" have you looked at the national debt lately? Look at it this way Marge, most responsible families have a budget, right? Would you put your family into debt paying for medical care for others while ignoring your own family's health care? I sure wouldn't.

Another reason I am against free health care for Illegals is that it would create an even stronger magnet for Illegals to enter this country.

This from https://cis.org/Report/63-NonCitizen-Households-Access-Welfare-Programs

"No single program explains non-citizens' higher overall welfare use. For example, not counting school lunch and breakfast, welfare use is still 61 percent for non-citizen households compared to 33 percent for natives. Not counting Medicaid, welfare use is 55 percent for immigrants compared to 30 percent for natives."

This is why I support a means test for immigrants, as many other countries have.

Here is some information you may not be aware of Marge. If you are low income and on SSI you can go to the social services office, that new building in the field by the first round-about coming into PT, and apply for assistance with your health care. If you are low-income the State of Wa. will pay your Medicare deductible and you will not have it taken out of your SSI check. Good luck.

I know how medicaid works. I am not low income. My husband and I invested wisely and have enough to live on. He hasn't retired yet, but will soon.

And what is so bad about feeding families that have no income or very little no matter who they are. This crisis at the border is the Republican Administrations doing. Trump just made a difficult situation worse. As to changing the immigration laws, they actually just need to be followed. A path to citizenship explains the process. People come into this country for many reasons, some good some bad but they have been coming since day one. Some were welcomed, others not so much.

And I certainly would not have given huge tax breaks to the wealthiest people in this country. Why do you think we have such a huge deficit?

Deficit in 2015 - $442 Million, in 2019 $1.02 trillion. Unbelievable! The U.S. took in Federal taxes in 2019 of $3.46 Trillion

Senator Elizabeth Warren has answers to many of the problems we face in this country. Take some time and listen to her ideas.

So under the Trump administration you are doing well, that's good to know.

"And what is so bad about feeding families that have no income or very little no matter who they are" .....What's right about giving free stuff to Illegals while there are American citizens going without?

NEWSFLASH Marge, if you want to send your money to give the Illegals free stuff there are plenty of organizations that will be happy to take your money.

And no Marge the "crisis" at the southern border is not caused by the Republican administration. The crisis was obviously caused by the thousands of migrants from Central America overrunning our southern border looking for free stuff such as our social welfare system and the promise of free health care that all of the Democrats advocate for.

" As to changing the immigration laws, they actually just need to be followed.".....Are you saying that the Trump administration is not following the immigration laws?

" People come into this country for many reasons, some good some bad but they have been coming since day one. Some were welcomed, others not so much. "..... That's right. That is why I support a "means Test" for immigrants. I would extend that to the DACA migrants.

" Why do you think we have such a huge deficit? " Uh, Congress passing deficit spending budgets, people like you who want to be the caretaker for the rest of the world.

"Senator Elizabeth Warren has answers to many of the problems we face in this country"...... Can you cite a few of them?

Don't put words in my mouth Justin, luckily we are old enough to have benefited from the Clinton administration.

You know what, you are a Trump supporter so I assume that means you are a misogynist, bigot and liar, just like your hero. And if you deny this look back at your comments.

I support good Republicans and President's Trump's desire to deny healthcare and nutrition to immigrant children. Our own real citizen children can look out their school windows and see the hungry, sick, uneducated tots who weren't smart enough to be born in the USA as an incentive to study hard. Being in contact with staggering sick kids at the playground will make our own offspring take their prescribed medicine without complaint so they don't wind up in the cemetery which, by the way, should not be complementary to the undocumented either. Denying immunizations and food to these foreign children amongst us will lead Republicans to prosperity and shorter lines at the ER. Please help make all America like Appalachia and vote Republican!

Justin Hale please remember you promised not to comment on my comments any more. Thank goodness. Your lack of compassion, ignorance of history and economics, makes it hard for me to recruit people to vote for Trump around here.

" luckily we are old enough to have benefited from the Clinton administration. " .....So which of those investments have suffered under the Trump administration? Certainly, the real estate market continues to rise, and certainly, the stock market has been at all-time highs. Careful Marge you're starting to sound like a limousine liberal.

" you are a Trump supporter so I assume that means you are a misogynist, bigot and liar, just like your hero."..... I will support Trump for re-election that is true. Last time around I wrote-in Sanders, since then I have realized that Sanders is a socialist phony and just another vote for me because Trump sucks Democrat. As for the rest of your assumptions remember what Oscar Wilde said: “ When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.”.

You quoting Oscar Wilde, that's rich from a Republican.

Marge, either you have a terrible memory or are just being deceitful. In our back and forth comments I have stated many times that I have voted on both sides of the aisle, in the last election I wrote in Sanders.

You seem to like guilt by association Marge, so wouldn't my quoting Oscar Wilde make me an Anarchist, Socialist, and Feminist?
