At the Rotary debate, I heard the marine trades candidate for the Port of Port Townsend state the port should put all their “eggs in one basket” and spend all monies on infrastructure to support the marine trades.

Why should the port put the $15 million of county taxpayer money from Prop 1 into infrastructure already being affected by storm surges and soon to be underwater? She stated that the marine trades were the largest employer in the county, referring to a report the marine trades published. (They are maybe fourth.) Note this “report” was produced by, for and with only the input from the marine trades themselves.

The port’s offer to partner was turned down, the consultants never asked them a question. It is so biased as to be useless. I do not believe that most maritime jobs are family wage, think shed boys. There are no unions. Tailgaters have no benefits, no social security, no security at all.

Vote for Chuck Fauls, vote for truth.
