A vehicle fire on US Highway 101 shut down the highway last week.
No one was injured in the blaze, which was reported just after 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 near Sandy Shore Road.
One vehicle had been towing another when the towing vehicle’s transmission began making sound just before a fire started inside the vehicle from the center console.
There were no injuries, but the vehicle doing the towing was a total loss.
Crews from East Jefferson Fire Rescue and Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue were called to the scene and briefly closed the road in order to stretch out hoses to put out the fire.
The highway was quickly reopened.
Fire Chief Bret Black of East Jefferson Fire Rescue praised the collaboration of the two departments: “It’s “a relationship that we’re working really hard to optimize.”
