UPDATE | One person airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after latest crash on US 101

Three people were injured in a one-car rollover on a stretch of US Highway 101 north of Brinnon Thursday morning that has seen a dramatic spike in crashes over the past several weeks.

The latest crash happened just before 9 a.m. Thursday near Milepost 303 on US 101, about 5 miles north of Brinnon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, an 80-year-old woman from Glenns Ferry, Idaho was driving south on U.S. Highway 101 near Milepost 302 when she rounded a corner and lost control of her 2006 Ford Escape.

The Ford rolled onto its side and slid down the roadway for about 100 feet.

Brinnon Fire Department and Quilcene Fire Rescue responded to the rollover, along with the State Patrol and personnel from the Washington Department of Transportation personnel.

The driver was taken by an aid unit to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma for treatment.

Two passengers in the car were also injured.

A 60-year-old man from Glenns Ferry was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A 69-year-old woman, also from Glenns Ferry, was taken to Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend.

The cause of the crash was speeding too fast for conditions, according to the State Patrol.

US 101 was blocked in both directions after the crash.

It was finally reopened, but traffic was limited to one lane for three hours Thursday.

This accident is the eighth to happen in the area in the last 30 days.

Road conditions, distracted drivers, speed, and a missing light beacon all appear to be factors in the incidents.
