Classical music fans will be delighted to know that the Port Townsend Symphony Orchestra is back in action for a concert performance in late February.
The symphony orchestra will host a concert featuring cello soloist and Quilcene resident Pamela Roberts at the Chimacum High School Auditorium; the group’s old stomping grounds since before the pandemic.
The performance starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27.
Roberts is the principal cellist for the Port Townsend Symphony Orchestra. She’s been a faculty cellist at the University of Puget Sound, and has featured as a soloist with the Seattle Symphony and Aspen Music Festival in Colorado.
The concert setlist will include Carl Neilsen’s “Little Suite” for string orchestra, “Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus” by Ralph Vaughn Williams, “Divertimento” for brass and percussion by Karel Husa, and “Grand Tango” by Astor Piazzolla, which will feature Roberts’ solo performance.
The concert is free, but registrations are required and audience capacity will be limited.
COVID-19 protocols, registration information, and general details about the concert and symphony orchestra can be found at ptsymphony.org.
