Two people were hurt Saturday afternoon when a Seattle woman lost control of her 1995 Jeep Wrangler on the Hood Canal Bridge and hit another vehicle head-on in the middle of the span.
The woman was driving too fast for conditions, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The driver of the Jeep, 48, was not hurt in the crash.
Her passenger, a 54-year-old Seattle man, was injured and taken to St. Michael Medical Center-Silverdale.
The State Patrol said the Seattle driver was going east on the bridge but lost control when the surface turned from a grated roadway to pavement and crossed the centerline of the span just after 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Jeep collided with a 2020 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 63-year-old Hansville man. The Jeep then flipped over onto its side.
The Hyundai driver was injured and was also transported to St. Michael Medical Center-Silverdale.
A 64-year-old Hansville woman who was a passenger in the Hyundai escaped injury.
Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene by Kitsap Chico Towing.
The bridge was closed for an hour and 19 minutes, according to the State Patrol.
