The Port Townsend High School Scholarship Foundation is happy to announce the opening of this year’s application period for PTHS graduates who are currently enrolled in their sophomore, junior, or senior year of college, or in the second or subsequent year of a certificate program. Applicants can find more information at theWashboard.org.
Any PTHS graduate with a minimum 3.0 GPA in coursework completed since their PTHS graduation date is encouraged to apply. The application deadline is Oct. 31 and requires current recommendations, transcripts, and other supporting materials.
The foundation has been granting support to local college students since its inception in 1974. Up to $30,000 will be awarded in this application cycle. (Scholarships for graduating high school seniors are awarded in the spring of each year by a separate application.)
In the fall of 2021, the foundation presented awards totaling $31,500 to applicants who were attending a wide variety of public and private, in-state and out-of-state, universities and junior colleges. PTHS graduates currently in the second year of certificate programs are also encouraged to apply. An applicant need not have received a foundation scholarship previously.
The foundation accepts contributions to its endowment fund and monies to fund a current year or ongoing memorials and named scholarships. More information is available by contacting one of our co-presidents at bmglaspell@yahoo.com, or at lolo.sherwood@gmail.com. The foundation is a nonprofit entity separate from the PT School District and PTHS.
