A 67-year-old Port Townsend man escaped injury after a speeding driver caused a three-truck crash on Highway 3 near the Bayshore General Store north of Shelton Friday afternoon.
A passenger in one of the trucks was hurt in the pileup, however.
The pileup happened just after 3:30 p.m. Oct. 23 when a 51-year-old Rainier man in a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck hit the back end of a 2010 Chevrolet pickup truck that had stopped for traffic on northbound Highway 3.
The second pickup then lurched forward and hit the back end of a 2020 Ford F-250 pickup.
The driver of the F-250, a 35-year-old Gig Harbor man, was not hurt.
The driver of the pickup that caused the crash was also not hurt, but his passenger, a 49-year-old Rainier woman, was injured and was taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton for treatment.
The Washington State Patrol said the crash was caused by the Rainier man driving at a speed that was not safe, and reported he would be charged for speeding.
The 2004 Chevy pickup was towed from the scene; the other trucks were driven away.
