I used to have a personal blog called ‘This Side of the Road.’ Last September I started writing a book and decided to use that title.  As I sat out our cold winter watching the snow and wondering just how long Mother Nature intended to give us photo opportunities with the pretty white stuff, I contented myself by typing away on my laptop.  I finished the book last week and now I’m eagerly waiting for my son-in-law, Wayne, to deliver the boxes of books. He drives for FedX and remembers delivering ‘Town Kid’ four years ago.

Marketing has never been my favorite part of the process but it’s a necessary step if you want to get your book out there.  Pictured is the postcard my granddaughter designed for me to hand out, attach in emails, and post on Facebook.

Computers can be so aggravating when you’re trying to teach yourself new maneuvers, but I did manage to learn a few tricks along the way.  I’m not even close to being as good as my granddaughter is, however, and I’m thankful she had the patience to put up with my desperate calls for help.

Once the book was on its way to the publisher, I decided to clean out all my computer files and photos.  Took two days and then I tackled some three-ring binders and boxes of “stuff” cluttering up my closet.  Spring cleaning I guess.  Think I’ll get back to posting on my Leader blog now and then and maybe my personal blog too.  I’ve kind of let it go by the wayside, but then I never really had much to yak about outside of what I fixed for dinner, who I visited, or what body part was causing me grief. Such is the life of a stay-at-home gramma.  And I’m fine with that. 

It’s been a month without Cable TV now and my life is continuing along just fine and dandy. I did opt to subscribe to Hulu for a while just to see if I liked it.  I was spending way too much time letting the news upset me and I definitely don’t miss those broadcasts.  I think I’ll pull out the sewing machine again and lose myself in the quilting projects calling my name.

Meanwhile, I’ll post on Town Kid when some subject sparks my interest.  I plan on delivering a few books into town next month so let me know if you’d like a copy. I like this book and I think you will too.
