On Saturday I took Jefferson Transit from Port Townsend to the Kingston ferry; sadly I was the only rider on the bus.

We are lucky to have such a great service here, and I feel like many people don’t know about it. For $6, you can ride the bus to the Kingston Ferry dock.

Once there, I walked onto the passenger-only ferry that is provided by Kitsap Transit. As a senior citizen, it only cost me a dollar to zip across the water and land in downtown Seattle. Another option is to take the Kingston ferry to Edmonds and catch Amtrak right at the Edmonds ferry dock.

As I mentioned, I was the only passenger on the bus, and it was sad because if they don’t gain more ridership they will not be able to continue offering this service. I encourage you to take advantage of this economical and environmentally friendly option offered to us by the transit companies. Leave your car at home, and enjoy the scenery!
