Sunday, May 14 is Mother’s Day, and it’s also time for another free “Second Sunday Swim” at the Mountain View Pool, 1925 Blaine St., Port Townsend.
On that day, the pool is reserved for adults only for laps, water walking and exercise from 1 to 2 p.m. At 2:15 p.m., the lane lines come down for an open recreational swim for all ages. Children younger than 8 must be accompanied by an adult in the water.
Carl’s Building Supply is this month’s sponsor for the open recreational swim, while Jefferson Healthcare continues to sponsor the adult swim period.
Free swims are offered the second Sunday of every month through the collaborative efforts of the JeffCo Aquatic Coalition, the City of Port Townsend, the YMCA and The Leader.
The pool now offers water fitness classes every day of the week, including a new “Aqua Mélange” class from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday and Thursday evenings, and a “Power Lunch” option from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A new fee schedule took effect May 1.
